Supermodel Gigi Hadid fronts a new campaign breaking Thursday for Miu Miu’s matelassé in two styles — the already-iconic Wander, and the newly-debuted Arcadie — lensed by Steven Meisel. [The photographer now has a very quiet Official IG page posting older images.]
For the first time — after taking a huge leap on Lyst’s hottest brands list in 2022, over their mini skirt — Miu Miu has the second place position. Mothership Prada has the top slot in first quarter 2023, after replacing Gucci in fourth quarter 2022.
The Wander [pouch] and the newly debuted Arcadie [rectangle] style in the signature matelassé series offer great promise to become new “pillars” of the Miu Miu bag category, following the iconic history of Miu Miu’s Pocket.

American Vogue’s May 2023 issue pays tribute to Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, one of fashion’s greatest talents. Lagerfeld is the focus of the upcoming retrospective at The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and annual fundraiser hosted by Anna Wintour and referred to as The Met Gala 2023, scheduled for Monday May 1, 2023.
Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute’s brilliant curator has titled the new exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” a reference to the painter William Hogarth. The artist believed that an ever-turning, ever-changing line captures more energy and life than a straight one. This idea was conceptually embedded in nature by Hogarth and other artists and intellectuals discuss this concept. More than one of them referenced the serpeant as an ideal symbol.
Lagerfeld’s career spanned appointments at Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel, and his eponymous brand.
For the cover, Vogue photographer Annie Leibovitz [IG] photographed 10 muses, women who are part of a larger group of models adored by Karl Lagerfeld.
Models include Adut Akech, Amber Valletta, Anok Yai, Devon Aoki, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Liu Wen, Naomi Campbell, Natalia Vodianova and Shalom Harlow, pose in the creations of other designers paying tribute to Karl Lagerfeld with the fashion itself and also words.

Reviews for this new Givenchy Spring 2023 campaign have been very positive. It would seem that holding the line and trying to make this vision of Givenchy work has merit.
In October, the New York Times explored the evolution [or confusion] around Williams’ vision for Givenchy.
Reminding readers that Givenchy has no core house identity, the sequence of designers at Givenchy has further created murky waters.
As for the talented American creative director Mr. Williams, does a former Kanye West acolyte, have a vision capable of translating Givenchy in modern terms — especially when none of us knows anymore, what Givenchy is about?
Because it’s game over if Mr. West, legally known as Ye, gets anywhere near an advisory role to Mr. Williams to help sort out his quandary.
From all I’ve read about him, Williams can’t possibly share West’s ‘I’ve never read a book, because I don’t need to’ attitude.
As The Atlantic explained this week: “Identifying as someone who categorically rejects books suggests a much larger deficiency of character.”

Adut’s five-year rise from a South Sudan, Australian Refugee to REAL supermodel status is well known by now. Being a Global Ambassador for Estee Lauder, announced in June 2021, goes a long way in wearing the real-deal supernodel crown.

Gigi Hadid is the latest talent to team up with Los Angeles-based swimwear brand Frankies Bikinis. The collab is extra special because in real life Hadid is a childhood friend of Frankies Bikinis founder and creative director Francesca Aiello.
Another childhood friend Alana O’Herlihy, shot the campaign for the 98-piece collection, which will land online at Frankiesbikinis.com on May 11, followed by a second drop on June 2. Francesca Aiello recently sold a minority stake of Frankies Bikinis to Victoria’s Secret & Co. for $18 million. She will continue to lead Frankies Bikinis, with its first New York pop-up in NYC’s SoHo neighborhood coming soon. Kudos to O’Herlihy who launched Frankies Bikis when she was still in high school.
