Designers Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana work with art director Fabien Baron and stylist Karl Templer to create a Spring-Summer 2024 campaign rich with high-class swagger, penetrating eye confidence, and an attitude that says “judge me at your own risk — because I will take you down.”
With Steven Meisel [IG] on photography, the images will have these ingredients because Meisel often plays high-low with his human subjects. As a result, there are layers of meaning and interpretation that seep out of the images and into our own minds. They are created to be mildly disruptive, another characteristic that makes them interesting and one that Meisel understands deeply.
What AOC loves about Dolce & Gabbana is that their garden is an Italian garden in the same way Loro Piana and Brunello Cucinelli are Italian gardens. But they are planting different crops growing in different parts of Italy and Sicily and Sardinia — from Rome to Milan to Florence and Venice.

Models Annemary Aderbrigbe, Ava Christian, He Cong and Ida Heiner are the spring muses lensed by Steven Meisel. Frequent collaborator Fabien Baron acts as creative director in a moment where fashion swings back to sensual elegance and beautiful clothes, styled here by another Meisel-Baron collaborator Karl Templer.
There will always be contrived fashion around us, but the trend to clothes that we wear as honest pleasure — as opposed to them wearing us as artifice, an IG photo op and to feed some designer’s ego is real.

Steven Meisel on photography, Fabien Baron on art direction and Karl Templer as stylist are in the house for the new Zara Studio [IG] campaign — a creative effort that sings like an opera star. It’s not often that we just look at images and in 5 seconds know the photographer behind them.
Add 10 models who aren’t wooden mannequins, and Zara Studio has — not a remarkable campaign in a fashion history sense — but a unique, superbly-executed campaign that knocks on the doors of women’s psyches with joy, inner convictions and backbone. it makes AOC want a campaign or fashion story with women all around the world roaring in unison.
We love it, and AOC tends to reject campaigns and fashion stories that are formulaic. So Zara, Meisel, Baron and Templer took 10 unique faces: Amar Akway, Chiharu Okunugi, Kirsten Owen, Marisa Berenson, Meadow Walker, Precious Lee, Raquel Zimmermann, Rianne van Rompaey, Sasha Pivovarova and Yumi Nu and mixed a grade AAAAA studio campaign. Legendary photographer Steven Meisel delivers another fashion-lover’s, heart-racing set of visuals with his new Zara Women Spring Summer 2021 Campaign. The Green team will be thrilled, as the Meisel crew is again working remotely and not spewing carbon and jet fuel all over the planet.
