Adesuwe Aighewi's Life Philosophy: I Can Feel Sexy While Claiming a Better World

AOC articulates Adesuwa Aighewi’s activist, documentary producer narrative constantly — as recently as last week — but we just learned a new reference from her S Moda interview. BTW, do you know that AOC tracks the intersection of black beauty, racism in fashion and beyond, colonialism, slavery in America and contemporary Africa in our GlamTribal channel”

‘How To Make a Slave’ by Willie Lynch

What AOC notes — and has never been exposed to in decades of work in civil rights — is her reference to ‘How To Make a Slave’ by Willie Lynch, an alleged slave owner in the West Indies. Looking for the best reference on this alleged, but heavily disputed speech, I will share this link for LongReads, because 1) it’s researched by librarians using the wayback machine, and it involves Kanye West. Denzel Washington quotes the letter at length in the 2007 film ‘The Great Debaters’.

Multiple voices in this article argue that the letter is a construction from the ‘60s or ‘70s, one created to confuse and disempower people of color. Rest assured that AOC will be investigating Aighewi’s reference to ‘How To Make a Slave’.

Charlee Fraser Talks Proudly Of Her Awabalkal Ancestors For S Moda El Pais November 2018

Model Charlee Fraser covers the November 2018 issue of S Moda El Pais. Ana Fernandez Abadj styles Charlee in Marc Jacobs canary color coat and gloves, Gucci, Versace, Calvin Klein 205W39NYC and more in images by Henrique Gendre. / Hair by Roberto Di Cuia; makeup by Linda Gradin

In her interview, Charlee talks about being “"the first Australian indigenous model on the radar of the international fashion industry," in the words of WWD. "It's amazing for me to think about it. I do not carry it as a responsibility, but as an honor. It is important to vindicate my indigenous side, they are my roots and I want to continue talking about them, because it is a part of me that I love and value. Breaking stereotypes makes me feel good.”

Edita Vilkeviciute Covers S Moda El Pais August 2018, Lensed By Marcus Ohlsson

Edita Vilkeviciute covers the August 2018 issue of S Moda El Pais, lensed by Marcus Ohlsson.  Edita is styled by Francesca Rinciari in Dsquared2, Calvin Klein, Lanvin, Palamo Spain, Sonia Rykiel, Miu Miu, Hermes and more..

"I've always dreamed of cutting my hair very short, but my hair is such a fundamental part of me that I would never dare!", Edita confides to Patricia Rodriguez writing for S Moda days after posing in Berlin for this fashion shoot. Fashion seems polarized today between models with 'atypical' and often androgynous features or those "that seem chiseled by a renaissance sculptor."

Talking about the power of social media, Edita has always maintained a much lower profile. Even her Instagram account is a fan site. She also does not interviews except ones directly tied to an editorial or campaign.

Kristian Schuller Eyes Powerful, No BS Pink In New Dawn Style For S Moda El Pais June 17, 2018

Since Florida's Parkland students began calling BS about the NRA and Republican party's response to the avalanche of 2018 school shootings in America, the initials are in everyone's vocab and national media. Note that most talking heads stick with the initials, but not S Moda El Pais. They write:

Powerful pink, free and not cheesy: Gone is any glimpse of bullshit. The color shakes the corny to paint a new dawn.

Besides excellent copy writing, the new fashion editorial is lensed by Kristian Schuller, as Francesca Rinciari delivers summer style from Dolce & Gabbana, Valentina, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Chanel, Prada and more.

Note that AOC hopes that the birds flocking to the pink passion model don't reference Tippi Hedren in Alfred Hitchcock's film 'The Birds'. Then again, maybe it does in a very sophisticated, subliminal way rather than the superficial one that first came to mind. The facts are that the bird attacks on Hedren in 'The Birds' were real. She was bleeding as a furious, controlling Hitchcock launched one bird attack after another on the actor, who had spurned his dominating, Harvey Weinstein I OWN YOU sexual advances in making the film.

Rather than endure Hitchcock's controlling demands over her private life, Tippi Hedren walked away, and Hitchcock's warning that she would never work again in Hollywood went into action. She was banned. Tippi Hedren was an original #MeToo woman and her testimony about what she endured has inspired us all.
