Eva Mendes For Estee Lauder

Cuban-American beauty Eva Mendes joins Carolyn Murphy, Joan Smalls, Stephanie Seymour and Kendall Jenner as an Estee Lauder ambassador. Mendes will front Lauder’s New Dimension skincare line.

Models Beat the System

The Cut shares news from the New York Observer that models are trying to get around new laws on minimum BMI for the industry. Are models actually gaining weight? No, says a former model who worked in Spain, where BMI rules have been in place.

Jennifer Sky, a former model writing for the New York Observer, spoke with a model, “Lauren” (not her real name), who worked in Spain, where BMI restrictions were worked around by way of an obvious-seeming loophole. “[The agencies] gave us Spanx underwear to stuff with weighted sandbags so the thinnest of girls had a ‘healthy’ weight on the scales. I even saw them put weights in their hair,” she said.

Perfection Pressure

Actor Hilary Duff fronts the May issue of Shape magazine, returning to TV in the new show ‘Younger’ after the birth of her son Luca. Duff also has a 3-year-old.

Hilary talks about the pressure to be perfect by Hollywood:

There’s so much pressure to always have it together, and I’m not falling for it. You see supermodels who have babies, and the next week they look as if they were never pregnant. That was not the case with me. Some days I feel great, others I feel pretty normal, and that’s acceptable.

On her new TV show:

I embrace the mess. I had to be careful not to screw up in public as a child actor. So on my new show,Younger—which is written by Darren Star, who created Sex and the City—it’s really fun for me to play Kelsey, a 27-year-old book editor whose personal life is a hot mess. She always chooses the wrong guy, drinks way too much, and has to cover for herself the next morning.
