Caitlyn Jenner Talks About Her Mother’s Reaction and Transgender FansVanity Fair

Jenner: Even my son, actually, Burt said that to me one time. He goes, “To be honest with you, I think Caitlyn is a lot better person than Bruce.” And I really have to—I think he’s right, because Bruce always had to tell a lie, he was always living that lie, every day, he always had a secret from morning till night. Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets. It’s funny, my mother, my mom, she has not met Caitlyn yet. We’ve talked on the phone, she is coming down.

Bissinger: When is she coming down?

Jenner: In about a week and a half, O.K. I’m sending a plane to go pick her up, and my sister, because she’s 89 years old and cannot get on the airlines, but she has to come down and, you know, we have to do this.

Bissinger: You’re sending a plane out?

Jenner: Yeah.

Bissinger: You’re the cheapest person I ever met, I can’t—

Caitlyn Jenner owned the Internet this week, and if anyone broke the Internet, it was Caitlyn and not step-daughter Kim Kardashian. Huff Po used analytics by iQ media, confirming that the name Caitlyn Jenner had been mentioned 30,849 times in the media by Tuesday morning.

Jenner revealed herself on the Vanity Fair cover Monday morning. See video of the photoshoot, photos still embargoed. As of midday Tuesday, Caitlyn’s name had been mentioned more than 10,000 times on Twitter.

‘For one person to see over 30,000 mentions in under 24 hours, it’s clear they are grabbing the media’s attention,’ Kye Strance, iQ media president, told The Huffington Post.

For cable and network news, “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley,” “ABC World News with David Muir” and “NBC Nightly News” mentioned Jenner’s name more than any other shows, with 133, 108 and 108 mentions, respectively.

Just for context, Hillary Clinton had just over 27,000 mentions on the Sunday in April when she announced her candidacy for president. Jenner’s step-daughter Kim Kardashian only saw 5,534 mentions in the media when she attempted to “break the Internet” in November, iQ media told HuffPost.

But Jenner’s record-breaking streak began the moment she joined Twitter. Just four hours after sending her first tweet on Monday, Jenner gained over 1 million followers, beating out President Barack Obama, who collected the same number of followers in four and a half hours in May.

Food for Thought: Is A Rumble Coming Between Feminists and the Transgender Elite?

Illustrationh by Julie DoucetWhat Makes a Woman?New York Times Sunday Review by Elinor Burkett

(Note: AOC will pick up this growing controversy between feminism and the transgender elite who seek to ban words like vagina from discussions of being female. As we fight against the repression of poor women worldwide by conservative groups seeking to limit access to health care and reproductive choices, the transgender elite seeks to issue their own control over the bodies of people who have breasts and that v-word that we can no longer discuss within the context of the needs of 3.5 billion former so-called women on the planet. A rumble is coming and Elinor Burkett lays out the landscape. Anne never thought she would be called a bigot for referring to a vagina when talking about women’s reproductive health or women’s bodies.)

Do women and men have different brains?

Back when Lawrence H. Summers was president of Harvard and suggested that they did, the reaction was swift and merciless. Pundits branded him sexist. Faculty members deemed him a troglodyte. Alumni withheld donations.

But when Bruce Jenner said much the same thing in an April interview with Diane Sawyer, he was lionized for his bravery, even for his progressivism.

“My brain is much more female than it is male,” he told her, explaining how he knew that he was transgender.
