Queen Rania Receives Humanitarian | Technology Award

Queen Rania was in Microsoft Country yesterday, receiving the 2010 James C. Morgan Global Humanitarian Award for her work applying technology to humanity.

Speaking in Redmond, Washington, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah said: she wants to “bring light to darkness and hope to hopelessness” and fervently believes that technology such as social media “can help build bridges of understanding. Only on truth can you build a foundation of peace.”

Queen Rania spoke of her YouTube channel dealing with Muslim stereotypes, as an example of effective technology at work bringing people together. This effort endeared Queen Rania to us, launching our passion for promoting her as one of the most consistently outstanding women in the world.

We missed this quote on Queen Rania’s website. One of the truly endearing aspects of Queen Rania is her unpretentious nature. As she describes herself:

“I just wake up and feel like a regular person. At the end of the day, you are living your life for the people that you represent. It’s an honor and privilege to have that chance to make a difference — a quantitative difference in people’s lives — and it’s my responsibility to make the most out of that opportunity.” via Redmond Reporter

This is our idea of a modern queen.
