Nicole Kidman Testifies to Congress on Women's Violence

“These champions need and deserve our support. Not with a box of band aides, but with a comprehensive well-funded approach that acknowledges that women’s rights are human rights,” Kidman said. “To succeed, it requires strong political will.”

The World Health Organization estimates that violence against women leads to more disability and death among women aged 15 to 44 than cancer, malaria, traffic accidents and war.

“Thank you for allowing us to utilize your celebrity,” said subcommittee Chairman Bill Delahunt, who is planning to introduce the International Violence Against Women Act. Read: Nicole Kidman speaks on the Hill about violence against women.
