Hailey Bieber
Who Knew?
Hailey Bieber had a long-time crush on Leonardo DiCaprio. She recalled in 2014, when she met him at an after-party at the Met Ball and managed to muster an “Oh, hiiiii!” ‘Like I don’t have the biggest crush on you forever, but hey."
Hailey had an even better story about ‘her’ Leo, telling Grazia Daily UK that he once asked her mum on a date when she was pregnant with Hailey’s sister.
Ms. Baldwin explained in 2014 about her mother: ‘She was sitting in a bar here in London and Leonardo DiCaprio came up to her and asked her on a date. She was like, yeah, sure, you can ask my husband first. And he was like, “Ooh, never mind.”’
América González
Who Knew?
América González was a medical student at Central University of Venezuela when her sister convinced her to participate in a local casting model search. Next thing she knew, América walked 34 shows in the Feb/March 2022 season.
Asked by Models.com what might surprise us about her, González responded: “I have read at least 10,000 (probably way more) chapters of Japanese manga across all genres. It’s the single thing that’s consistently been a part of my life since I was eight years old. I have a collection of physical copies with my oldest and proudest acquisitions being a compilation of short stories by Hagio Moto and my latest purchase, the Deluxe Edition of Berserk Vol. 1 by Kentaro Miura.”
Amar Akway
Who Knew?
Amar Akway was a competitive runner and member of the national Ethiopian athletic team. For five years, she trained every day.
Amar was born in the Gambela region of Ethiopia, bordering South Sudan. At age 14, she moved to the capital Addis Ababa to begin her training.
Asked in another interview what does she want us to know about Ethiopia, her answer was “Most of all, it is here that you will find the cradle of humanity.”
Lulu Tenney
Who Knew?
Lulu Tenney was born on January 1, 2000 — not only on New Year’s Day, but on the first day of the 21st century.
Tenney has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Calvin Klein but found herself in March 2017 as the subject of controversy in the UK. This ad was attacked for being inappropriate and suggestive, “offensive and irresponsible.”
One complainant told the Daily Mail that the model technically wasn’t underage, but she looks too young. “The fact that she looks underage in terms of body shape and somewhat vulnerable facial expression, combined with the fact that she is wearing very little and is adopting a strangely provocative pose means it could be deemed to sexualize children.” The ad largely disappeared in England. via Teen Vogue
