LOVE Magazine #4 | The Many Flavors of Women

The eight fabulous women on the covers of LOVE magazine, issue #4 remind us that women are as varied as fruits in the garden. We’re juicy, tart, delicious, crunchy, sweet and savoury, soft and crispy. No civilization wants its fruits and vegetables to look and taste the same.

Mert & Marcus take aim at Alessandra Ambrosio, Gisele Bündchen, Sienne Miller, Agyness Deyn, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kelly Brook, Lauren Hutton, and one perfect doll, by Louis Vuitton designer Fabrizio Viti.

Some of us are more The Bombshell and others The Rebel. The terribly clever among us rotate archetypes like favorite bras: one day strapless black lace and the next day smooth, racer-back, nude and sporty.

The challenge is training our brains to understand that Ms. Perfect featured on LOVE #4 is truly a doll, a mannequin and not a sensual, superyoung female of any age. She exists in the imagination of the fashion designer who created her to act as display fixture for his/her clothes.

As often as not today, the mannequin isn’t meant to sexually inspire or bring the clothes to life.  Body heat isn’t in vogue for today’s fashion designers.

A comeback is possible if we fight hard for our right to be all the variations of that great, perplexing, inspiring creature called ‘woman’. Never forget that she comes in many flavors.
