Naomi Watts on her role in ‘The Loudest Voice’

This summer the Game of Thrones star has a high-profile role in the TV drama miniseries ‘The Loudest Voice’, with Watts playing the role of Gretchen Carlson. The Fox News Primetime anchor filed a lawsuit in July 2016, accusing head of the network, now-deceased Roger Ailes, of forcing her off the air when she thwarted his sexual advances.

As a result of Carlson’s courage, other women at Fox News, including Megyn Kelly, followed Carlson’s lead and within weeks, Roger Ailes resigned as head of the network.

From Motherhood To Mossad Agent, Diane Kruger Is 'In the Lead' Lensed By Benjamin Vnuk For Porter Edit Jan 25, 2019

Actor Diane Kruger is styled by Tracy Taylor in sensual neutrals for ‘In the Lead’, lensed by Benjamin Vnuk for Porter Edit January 25, 2019.

Kruger sits down with Jane Mulkerrins for a chat on motherhood and possible marriage, and the secret training involved in her role as an Israeli intelligence Mossad agent in the upcoming film ‘The Operative.

“We had to do some strange things,” Kruger explains. “Like having to convince a stranger in the street to walk you somewhere, and having to knock on someone’s door and convince them to let you into their home.” Kruger poses as tourist in the city. “And if you act believably, most people will go out of their way to help you,” she reflectgs out loud. “But I found it really hard to lie to people like that.” Even worse was training requiring her to travel through airport security on a fake passport. “There was a real possibility of getting arrested. It was terrifying.”

Lies, Lies & More Lies

If lies and deception are unsettling, Kruger must abandon her inner voice for her role in a second film ‘Jeremiah Terminator LeRoy’. ‘JT LeRoy’ (played on screen by Kristen Stewart) was presented in an elaborate hoax that fooled both Hollywood and the publishing industry in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Presented as a literary wunderkind and the author of “several supposedly semi-autobiographical books detailing a luridly hardscrabble childhood”, JT LeRoy was an entirely fictitious character, “created by writer Laura Albert, and played – in glasses and a wig – by her sister-in-law Savannah Knoop. “ Knoop (portrayed by Laura Dern in the film) co-wrote the screenplay.

Taraji P Henson Is Lensed By Sam Taylor Johnson In 'What Women Need' For Porter Edit January 18, 2019

American talent Taraji Penda Henson covers the January 18, 2019 issue of Porter Edit. Tracy Taylor styles Henson in Alexander Wang, Iro, Stella McCartney, Maison Margiela, Proenza Schouler and more for ‘What Women Need’, lensed by Sam Taylor Johnson.

Eve Barlow conducts the brisk interview, opening with Henson’s role as Cookie Lyon in Fox’s ‘Empire’.

Despite the instant lovability of Cookie, the actress was initially reluctant to take the character on. On paper, she read like someone the audience would hate – a brash ex-convict – but then Henson saw an opportunity to change minds, including her own. “I stopped judging her,” she says. “We see somebody we don’t identify with and the first thing we do is judge, but all we’re put here to do is empathize. It’s my job as the actor to make the audience understand.” She references Charlize Theron in Monster: “We should’ve hated her. But she gave that woman humanity. An actor is supposed to conflict you. You’re supposed to be confused.” There’s a part of Cookie in Henson, too: she’s both a charmer and hustler.

Felicity Jones Talks Playing Ruth Bader Ginsburg In 'The Illusionist' For Porter Edit Dec. 7, 2018

Felicity Jones Talks Playing Ruth Bader Ginsburg In 'The Illusionist' For Porter Edit Dec. 7, 2018

Actor Felicity Jones graces the pages of Porter Edit’s Dec. 7 issue, styled by Tracy Taylor in ‘The Illusionist’ by Matthew Sprout.

Jones was in Washington, DC Tuesday night for the premier of the new biopic ‘On the Basis of Sex’, in which Jones plays Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Notorious RBG, now 85, posed with Jones and also Armie Hammer who plays her late husband Martin Ginsburg, and Justin Theroux, who plays former ACLU legal director Melvin Wulf. Read the opening night details at The Hollywood Reporter.

Back to Porter Edit, Jane Mulkerrins interviews Jones about playing heroic women.

While the film documents Ginsburg’s path to the highest legal appointment in the land, a path beset by sexism and misogyny, it is also a portrait of her very modern marriage to fellow lawyer Marty, played in the film by Armie Hammer, who supported his wife’s career unreservedly. Marty did all the cooking at home, says Jones: “They believed that gender stereotypes limit both men and women, that the patriarchy holds everyone back.” The apartment, she says, remains full of “the remnants of their life together – including racks of Marty’s cooking pots”. Now, Jones does not take her own opportunities for granted. “You’re not just expected to settle down and have children,” she notes. “If you want to do that, then that’s equally as valid a choice. But if you have ambition, why not follow it?”

The film ‘On the Basis of Sex’ opens in US theaters on Dec. 25 and in the UK on Feb. 8.

Amber Heard Rocks Proud In 'High Tide' Lensed By Olivia Malone For Porter Edit November 2018

Actor Amber Heard is styled by Tracy Taylor in sleek denim and leather looks from Versace, Anna Quan, Orseund Iris, Totême Isabel Marant, Saint Laurent, Joseph and more. Photographer Olivia Malone is behind the lens, flashing ‘Hide Tide’ for Porter Edit November 30, 2018.

Ajesh Patalay sits down with superheroine Mera to chat about her blockbuster movie ‘Aquaman’, turning around her hellish personal life and why she almost walked away from her future as the Queen of Atlantis.

Heard speaks of her role as Mera in ‘Aquaman’, co-starring with Jason Momoa and Nicole Kidman, within the context of her public 2010 discussion around her bisexuality. At the time, the revelations were explosive and probably did impact her career. Heard has no regrets.

What am I going to say to my sister: ‘Sorry, I blew it, because I have a big mouth’? I was scared to death.” So why do it? “It was wrong [not to],” she says. “A lie is never sustainable. The truth is the only thing that’s sustainable.” She now campaigns on LGBTQ rights.

Amber Heard pulls no punches in her discussions around the challenges women face — not only around the cultural hypersexualization of women and also not believing women — that we don’t tell the truth. I invite you to read her comments on this topic. ~ Anne

IMAN Talks Models Of Color In Fashion With Porter Edit Oct. 26, 2018: We've Come A Long Way, Baby

IMAN Talks Models Of Color In Fashion With Porter Edit Oct. 26, 2018: We've Come A Long Way, Baby

Porter Edit’s October 26 2018 issue turns its focus on supermodel, makeup entrepreneur, humanitarian and champion of black women’s rights: IMAN. Tracy Taylor styles the fashion icon in trench coats and utilitarian suitings from Michael Kors, Victoria Beckham, Joseph, Chloe and more for images by Hanna Tveite.

Jane Mulkerrings conducts the interview that touches on many topics from IMAN’s discovery by legendary photographer Peter Beard to her constant grief over the loss of her husband David Bowie.

It’s her focus on the fashion industry and her own activism on behalf of models of color that demands our focus, educating even me on the activism of IMAN, Bethann Hardison and Naomi Campbell’s launching of a campaign in September 2013 to force a reckoning over the dearth of models of color on the catwalk.

At AOC we see this pace of a primary place for models of color in the fashion industry escalating dramatically in 2017-2018. IMAN is totally correct is affirming that the changes are not only visible but blindingly so. It’s dazzling, frankly. Nobody gets a gold star for taking what was the right path all along. Nevertheless, the changes are breathtaking and a moment of joy for me personally as a citizen of Trumplandia.

Yelena Yemchuk Eyes Lisa Bonet In 'A Life Less Ordinary' For Porter Edit March 9, 2018

Female actor, singer and artist Lisa Bonet covers the March 9, 2018 issue of Porter Edit. Tracy Taylor styles Lisa for 'A Life Less Ordinary' by Yelena Yemchuk. / Hair by Johnnie Sapong; makeup by Lisa Storey

In her interview, Bonet reflects on her seven-year role playing the strong-willed Denise Huxtable on 'The Cosby Show', working with now-disgraced and back in Philadelphia court, comedian Bill Cosby.

“There was no knowledge on my part about [Cosby’s] specific actions, but… There was just energy. And that type of sinister, shadow energy cannot be concealed," Bonet told Porter Edit, adding that there was "always" a darkness around him. Bonet is hardly alone in her inability to reconcile the stories about Cosby with her memory of his actions on set.

Unlike Phylicia Rashad and Malcolm Jamal Warner, who have openly defended the comedian, Bonet has not, although she maintains that she never observed any inappropriate behavior on the set. "If I had anything more to reveal then it would have happened a long time ago. That’s my nature. The truth will set you free,” Bonet explains, reflecting on the 60 women who have made accusations against Bill Cosby.

Bonet does say that Cosby radiated an energy, a "sinister, shadow energy" that "cannot be concealed".  There was "always" a darkness around Cosby, Bonet maintains in her interview.

Alright then. But it gets better, as we learn that the 26-year-old Romanian would much rather be on a surfboard, a bike or under canvas in the wilderness than on a catwalk. "I don't know what I'm doing in the fashion industry," she admits with a chuckle.
