Supermodel Carolyn Murphy Talks Riding The Waves & Vaca Style With Porter Edit June 15, 2018

Supermodel Carolyn Murphy is styled by Catherine Newell-Hanson in 'Riding The Waves with Carolyn Murphy', lensed by Terence Connors for Porter Edit June 15, 2018.

Murphy talks to Eve Claxton about her 20+ years as a model, her enduring love of the ocean and keen surfer skills, and more about the next "bittersweet chapter in her life" -- the departure of her daughter Dylan for college.

Following in the footsteps of Gisele's Vogue US July cover story, Murphy also talks sustainability issues, particularly around water.

“The ocean is as much to us and the air we breathe as the forest is,” Murphy explains, sharing details around her advocacy for Waves for Water. “So you have to take that into consideration, and that it’s absorbing more than a quarter of the CO2 emissions.” Murphy is particularly vexed about the area in the Pacific Ocean between California and Hawaii where over 80,000 tons of floating plastic waste are adrift, polluting the water and killing fish that swallow it. “I get really overheated talking about it, it infuriates me."
