Kim Kardashian & Kanye West By Mario Sorrenti For Balmain Spring 2015

Oh dear! The Kimye haters will be out in full force Christmas week, spewing more anti-holiday spirit than is going on New York City. If Cardinal Timothy Dolan is called to make peace between New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and Patrick Lynch, president of the NYC Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association as is under discussion, let’s keep Cardinal Dolan out of the fashion industry. Surely the Kimye finger waggers will recover by New Year’s Day, and the Catholic Church has not moderated one iota its policies that seek to curtail women’s rights.

Indeed, Kim Kardashian herself has just released a new addition to Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing’s spring 2015 campaign, reports Fashionista. Rousteing — who lead with the photo — is good friends with the couple. In compliments that are certain to evoke groans in the groins of some die-hard fashionistas, Rousteing echoes the contemporary sentiments of Anne Wintour herself, who has already put apopleptic fashionistas on notice to expect another Kim Kardashian/Kanye West cover story in the future:

“For this Menswear campaign, I wanted to capture a moment of love. Kim and Kanye are style icons and friends. It is an honour to have them in this Balmain campaign. Together, they represent love, beauty and diversity — they are the new modernity. This is more than a campaign, it expresses something beyond clothes — it is a celebration of love and friendship. This is a new statement for Balmain.”

Maestro, sexy photographer Mario Sorrenti shot this new advert, along with last week’s images starring Adriana Lima, Joan Smalls, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Isabeli Fontana and Crista Cober. Those images are hardly to the manor-born as well, as Rousteing’s ‘Balmain Army’ of strong, sexy, fierce women feasts on burgers and fries and other modern amusements.

“Balmain is all about diversity,” Rousteing said in a release about the Spring 2015 campaign. “The incredible power that all those strong women bring in front of the camera, put into real life situations, helped me explore and create a new reality that represents the pop aspect of my generation.”
