Charlize Theron | Jean-Jacques Annaud | Dior J'Adore Fall 2011 @ Versailles

Charlize Theron always gets my attention in her Dior J’Adore campaigns. While I personally relate more to last season’s drop-dead female-sensuality, fragrance statement, I embrace deeply the new campaign, shot for the reconfigured J’Adore fragrance.

Theron glides through the gilded doors of the Palace of Versailles’ Hall of Mirrors as the bronzed goddess, that she is in real life. Director Jean-Jacques Annaud used CGI technology to splice the silver screen stars Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich into a scene with Theron, as she prepares to model in a fashion show at the Palace.

Christian Dior once famously said that “after women, flowers are the most heavenly creation.”

Dior’s perfumer Francois Demachy was inspired by that one-liner in his reformulation of J’Adore. One key addition for this year’s J’Adore is the use of neroli, or orange blossom. Also a Dior house icon - orange blossom vines trailed all over the veranda of the designer’s home in Granville. Anne
