Camila Mingori | André Passos | Vogue Brazil August 2011 | 'Slow Fashion'

Vogue Brazil’s ‘Slow Fashion’ moment in the July 2011 issue is meant to convey our hot weather longings to take time to smell the roses, so to speak. Summer is nearly over in North America as our focus heats up with a return to action and frenzy in the fall season.

For real, ‘slow fashion’ is a much more serious topic and one with Smart Sensuality roots. ‘Slow fashion’ asks consumers to think harder about what we buy, especially with disposable incomes on the wane. Our new fashon must-haves should be ‘made to last’ and have provenance and — at least in England — be made of organic, recycled or fair trade materials.

Model Camila Mingori’s simple summer beauty, captured here by André Passos, is not so deep when the topic is lovely summer dresses. But as even LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault tries to brake the madness of today’s global fashion cycles, the concept of ‘slow fashion’ is one that deserves consideration.
