Slava Fokk's Retro, Restrained Beauties Connect With Nature's Sensuality

‘Hummingbird’ By Slava Fokk 2014

Moscow-based Russian artist Slava Fokk’s retro paintings evoke a retro, restrained femininity. Introduced to his more glamorous but also vacuous ‘Great Gatsby’ or perhaps Havana in the 50s, cocktail crowd paintings this week, my personal preference is for paintings that keynote the ties between femaleness and nature.

It appears that Fokk’s earliest paintings reference Cuba, and they are very appealing with perhaps a growing market as Europe and now America strengthens ties to the beautiful island caught in time.

The art deco influence in Slava Fokk’s work is strong, with refernces to a simplified and streamlined Tamara Lempicka. ‘Dropteris’ By Slava Fokk 2014‘Blue Bird’ by Slava Fokk 2006
