Thanks PEER1 Team in Lower Manhattan for Keeping Our Websites Running | Mitt Romney Refuses To Discuss Promise To Shut Down FEMA

This impromptu essay was just posted on my Facebook page.

THE TRUE AMERICAN WAY

MITT Romney would say that I — Anne Enke — have built Anne of Carversville and everything it will be in the future. I have built my stores and sales promotion business. And it is true that I have exhausted myself in each of these ventures. But I know better than the Mittster about creating true small businesses, which he has never done being a finance guy. I know that my success is directly related and only possible with the efforts and commitments of so many other people. That is the American way.

My websites didn’t go down today, and they will probably not go down. Why?

Because the employees of PEER1 in lower Manhattan are carrying diesel fuel in half full 50 gallon barrels up 17 flights of stairs to fuel a backup generator. Until a better method is found — given that the backup generator must be fed every 60-90 minutes — these people will be keeping my websites up and running in lower Manhattan.

None of us EVER builds any successful business in America ALONE. And I resent the suggestion that this has ever been true in our great country. Yes, I am the entrepreneur and the risk taker, the creative one who tends to be in the lead. But I am nothing without the support of these people who are keeping my websites alive today, just as slaves built the pyramids — with manual labor and arduous effort.

Thank you so much PEER1 team. I didn’t even know who you are until today, since I’m actually a client of Squarespace — who has told us nothing since 10am. But I’m in your forum now, and I know that I’m in good hands. Message below as posted to Peer1 clients — it is truly wonderful to read and eases my mind:

As of 3:55PM EST, the PEER 1 Hosting NYC datacenter remains on generator power with fuel being provided through the remaining building supply. Once the building fuel supply has been exhausted, we will be powering the generators through our day tank that has capacity to run between 60-90 minutes.

The fuel tank has arrived at our facility and due to flooding conditions in the basement caused by the weather, we are working on alternative methods of fuel delivery to the day tank located on the 17th floor. As of now, our datacenter team is carrying half-full 50 gallon barrels of diesel to our daily fuel reservoir on the 17th floor, until a more sustainable solution is reached.

While the fuel delivery system is being worked on, the PEER 1 datacenter team will continue to manually carry fuel loads to the day tank via stairs to ensure the day tank stays filled.

We all appreciate your patience, support and the kind words you’ve passed along in your emails, blogs and other social media outlets as we work to maintain power to the datacenter. This is especially meaningful in light of what many of you are currently experiencing on the East Coast.

Please continue to stay tuned to this forum for further updates.

Mitt Romney Refuses To Talk About FEMA After Hurricane Sandy Event Huffington Post

“Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that’s the right direction,” he said. “And if you can go even further and send it back to the private sector, that’s even better. Instead of thinking, ‘In the federal budget, what we should cut?’ we should ask the opposite question: ‘What should we keep?’”

“We cannot — we cannot afford to do those things without jeopardizing the future for our kids,” Romney continued, when asked specifically about disaster relief. “It is simply immoral, in my view, for us to continue to rack up larger and larger debts and pass them on to our kids, knowing full well that we’ll all be dead and gone before it’s paid off. It makes no sense at all.”
