Supermodel Amber Valletta covers the digital issue of Vogue Hong Kong [IG] September 2024. And no, the cover was not designed to reinforce the image that Amber Valletta is brat. Or that she’s voting for Kamala Harris, who is 110% absolutely brat. One of fashion’s most ardent eco-warriors for decades, Amber Valletta is sold on being green.
Deana Neustadter Giannini styled the supermodel in sumptuous couture pieces from Alexis Mabille, Chanel, Charles de Vilmorin, Dior, Giorgio Armani, Jean Paul Gaultier, Juana Martin, Robert Wun and Schiaparelli lensed by Sebastian Faena [IG]./ Hair by Pablo Kuemin; makeup by Sam Visser
In 1992 American designer Donna Karan launched her campaign “In Women We Trust” shot by Peter Lindbergh. That fashion maverick statement about female leadership and competence was celebrated again today — not with America’s first woman president which we’ve all hoped for — but with photographer legend Annie Leibovitz gathering eight models so famous that they can go by their first names without confusion.
Featured in the Donna Karan revival campaign are Amber Valletta, Carolyn Murphy, Cindy Crawford, Imaan Hammam, Karlie Kloss, Linda Evangelista, Liya Kebede and Shalom Harlow.
Photographer Leibovitz shot the campaign in a Brooklyn warehouse, with video by Barbara Leibovitz Hellman and styling by Jessica Diehl.
Supermodel Amber Valletta takes one of three covers for the January 2023 issue of British Vogue[IG], as a leader of the pack of ‘Sustainability Trailblazers’.
Valletta has held the role of contributing sustainability editor at British Vogue since February 2020. A few weeks earlier, Valletta kicked off sustainable spring 2020 fashion for Porter Edit.

Vogue reminds us that when Tom Ford returned to fashion world with his spring 2011 in his post-Kering world [then the Gucci Group], he was joined by his favorite models including Amber Valletta, Joan Smalls and Karen Elson.
Today the model trio and colleagues support their designer man [did I say ‘beloved designer man’] as he says goodbye to his eponymous label.
Photographer/director Steven Klein [IG] was there in the spring 2011 runway beginning [in fall 2010] and he is behind the lens today, a 12+ years. The curtain falls on a great run for the fashion visionary, in AOC’s opinion. No need to draw out the loss.
American Vogue’s May 2023 issue pays tribute to Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, one of fashion’s greatest talents. Lagerfeld is the focus of the upcoming retrospective at The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and annual fundraiser hosted by Anna Wintour and referred to as The Met Gala 2023, scheduled for Monday May 1, 2023.
Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute’s brilliant curator has titled the new exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” a reference to the painter William Hogarth. The artist believed that an ever-turning, ever-changing line captures more energy and life than a straight one. This idea was conceptually embedded in nature by Hogarth and other artists and intellectuals discuss this concept. More than one of them referenced the serpeant as an ideal symbol.
Lagerfeld’s career spanned appointments at Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel, and his eponymous brand.
For the cover, Vogue photographer Annie Leibovitz [IG] photographed 10 muses, women who are part of a larger group of models adored by Karl Lagerfeld.
Models include Adut Akech, Amber Valletta, Anok Yai, Devon Aoki, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Liu Wen, Naomi Campbell, Natalia Vodianova and Shalom Harlow, pose in the creations of other designers paying tribute to Karl Lagerfeld with the fashion itself and also words.
You probably know that Amber Valletta was committed to true sustainability long before it was fashionable. And you might know that activist actor Jane Fonda is also a true eco-warrior on the record for about four years, saying she tries hard not to buy anything new — and especially fashion.

Shalom Harlow and Amber Valletta pose up a storm for their Vogue Hong Kong March 2023 cover shoot! This dynamic duo have been steadfast best friends since they met, and come together with such love.
“I think we have evolved in so many ways but to me the biggest [way] has been our ability to forgive one another and come back to our love”, shares Amber. “I think you can see I am a lover of life. I am in love with nature, my pets, friends, family, learning, art, self care, adventuring and being a part of bringing more joy and peace to others.”
