Maison Margiela x Reebok in Turkey, by Emre Unal for V Magazine June 2021

Maison Margiela brings its essential concept of decortiqué to Reebok’s 1985 Classic Leather runner. The result is the Classic Leather Tabi High, a new high-top leather trainer. Maison Margiela’s entire luxury haute couture brand identity embraces decortiqué, a technical process whereby a garment is deconstructed to its core structural elements.

Creative Director John Galliano has created the Classic Leather Tabi High in four different color schemes, with each version morphing into the attitude of one of four cities: Sydney, Tokyo, Cape Town and Turkey.

V Magazine picks up the second destination on the global tour, touching down in the rocky terrain of Erpe, Turkey. The shoes true performance is essential in Erpe, writes V. “The Classic Leather Tabi High’s technical grip isn’t just preferable, it’s anon-negotiable essential.”

V Magazine’s Kala Herh picks up the story, getting photographer Emre Unal’s perspective on the visually-interesting photo shoot, styled by Oguz Erel. Read the commentary at V Magazine.
