Archives: Kate and Christy by Arthur Elgort in Nepal for British Vogue Spring 1994

Taking time to pause and reflect is a key aspect of being part of the global COVID-19 pandemic. British Vogue dove into the archives today, resurrecting several images from a 1994 fashion shoot in Nepal by Arthur Elgort. ‘Simply Divine’ features young supermodels Christy Turlington and Kate Moss.

AOC has located many more images from the fashion shoot, as well as prints of Kate with elephants that continue to be sold at auction. We doubt this is a complete set. Hayley Maitland interviewed contributing British Vogue beauty editor Guido Palau, who was also on the trip. Read his favorite memories.

Christies auctioned this image above from the trip in 2013, as part of a Kate Moss From The Collection of Gert Elfering event. The print, #2 from an edition of 7, sold for GBP 21,250, much higher than its pre-auction estimate of GBP 8,000 - GBP 12,000.

Prints from the two images below are available on Lenscloud. In today’s world, such fashion imagery sends chills through our hearts. I know from all my writing about elephants that their skin and ears are very sensitive. Mashable wrote about interaction between humans and elephants.
