Rihanna X ASAI First Fenty Collab Launches at Selfridges London

Rihanna has launched her first major Fenty collaboration since she birthed it with the backing of LVMH. In true-to-form Rihanna style, the designer and musician tapped a young British designer A Sai Ta — and not a big-name creative — for the debut collab. ASAI is best known for its ‘Hot Wok’ tops and dresses, and Rihanna is a fan.

The Fenty-ASAI hybrid reinterprets pieces from Fenty’s ‘City Bloom’ release inspired by “the everyday style of powerful women, who are as comfortable in their softness as they are in their strength”. The floral-print dress and matching long-sleeved top in Fenty’s Iced Rose and Light Matcha colorways are customized pieces “ intricately executed in the style of ASAI’s cult ‘Hot Wok’ design,” Fenty said in a statement. “This collection celebrates some of the two labels’ shared codes: freedom, and a distinct sense of community.”

“The alignment feels really symbiotic,” Ta tells British Vogue. “I think both brands have a ground-up approach. We draw inspiration from the streets and are for the real girls we know and love. We both target women of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds, who, in some ways, seek to lead. We’re all about championing big boss energy!”

The Fenty X ASAI collection is at Selfridges in London.
