Candice Swanepoel's Tropic of C and Alo Yoga Collab with Peruvian Artisans AOC Fashion

Supermodel Candice Swanepoel and her eco-lifestyle brand Tropic of C [IG] launch a new collaboration with Alo Yoga [IG] for a swimwear capsule collection that also embraces yoga movements. Photographer Yulia Gorbachenko [IG] captures the collection loaded with ‘ubuntu for all’.

Center stage are the crochet swim pieces and accessories made by hand by Quechua and Mochica women across 3 regions of Northern Peru: Pacasmayo, Cajamarca and Huamachuco and in nine communities.

The team of 120 women work in their homes or in community centers where they can care for their children and families while generating an income. This artisan crochet is a traditional art form that's been passed down from generation to generation among the women.

Alo writes:

Because this art form does not require the use of a cumbersome backstrap loom, the women of Northern Peru take their weaving just about anywhere — a freedom and flexibility that allows mothers and grandmothers to continue their domestic life caring for the next generations while earning an income.

Each collective is provided with computer literacy classes, as well as an education on critical production skills that allow them to scale their artisan techniques into higher-paying categories while maintaining critical production consistency.

AOC applauds Tropic of C sharing specific information about the real women artisans involved in this project. Increasingly, customers want to know how our products are made.
