There are days when smart women just shouldn’t get up in the morning. I’m waiting for Phyllis Schlafly’s new diatribe against American feminists to hit Amazon on March 15. Schlafly’s view of women like me is:

After all, we ladies should just suck it in and understand that boys will be boys. Schlafly refuses to hold men responsible for any ills in American society. In fact, smart women have totally emasculated men in her playbook.

A degrading email — allegedly from a Kappa Sigma frat boy at USC — supports my argument that American men aren’t dead doormats yet.  What’s tough for a woman like myself is that as an ardent feminist, I never fought against men, even though I am blamed for it. Anne

The December 2011 issue of Fast Company has a lot to say about girls. We share Louis C.K. writing: The Next Steve Jobs Will Be A Chick.

Overall, I think it’s a good time to have a girl in the 21st century because things are changing, with more opportunities for women. But girls are still the underdog, which means they’ll work harder, and everybody loves an underdog. The next Steve Jobs will totally be a chick, because girls are No. 2—and No. 2 always wins in America. Apple was a No. 2 company for years, and Apple embodies a lot of what have been defined as feminine traits: an emphasis on intuitive design, intellect, a strong sense of creativity, and that striving to always make the greatest version of something. Traditionally, men are more like Microsoft, where they’ll just make a fake version of what that chick made, then beat the shit out of her and try to intimidate everybody into using their product.
