Excerpt from photographer Katriena Emmanuel’s artist’s statement about ‘Power of Faith’:

For me “the Power of Faith”, was my way of interpreting the theme of “Power” as history tells us of a long connection between power and religion.  I thought what else has proved to be one of the most powerful tools in human culture and existence…. but religion.  Religion has often times been the impetus for wars and countries have been torn as a result of collective faith and then on the flipside, when you examine an individual’s faith, its amazing how powerful it is, in changing an individual’s outlook of everything in life, how they perceive and treat others etc.

The simple truth is, we not that much different than we think we are on the surface.

2 Days to Act: Hold Russia Accountable

Anne’s FB friend Lisa Saravo Fusco Seymour writes:

I just added my voice to this urgent appeal, standing for human rights in Russia and all over the world. Medvedev and Putin’s party is pushing a law to vote this week that would make any mention of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender issues illegal.

The bill, being introduced as early as this Wednesday, would criminalize any book, article or speech about sexual identity and gender orientation, labeling it “homosexual propaganda”. This is outrageous, and now is the time for key world leaders to speak up, we need every voice.

There are international agreements as well as our own Holy Scriptures that guide us:

Article 2 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: “Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, origin … or other status …”

The Holy Bible tells us that “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28)
