The choice of Dr. Worrell’s home is not only a nod to her past accomplishments as a classically-trained ballet dancer and vocalist. It prompts AOC to share Dr. Worrell’s current pedigree as “a board certified obstetrician-gynecologist and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Worrell has practiced at Mount Sinai Beth Israel since 2003.

Dr. Worrell received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University and her Medical Doctorate from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Beth Israel Medical Center.”

ELLE promoted the fashion story as a “sartorial celebration of Black joy, love, and family.” True — but there is a stronger energy in play here, as young Black creatives honor not only their historical roots, but the historical breath of Black accomplishment, so often ignored in American history and everyday American life.
