2020 Presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg will donate $10 million Thursday earmarked to defend vulnerable Democratic House members under media assault for their support of impeachment proceedings against President Trump.

We can’t confirm that Nancy Pelosi herself reached out to Bloomberg, but it’s no secret that the three-term mayor of New York was incredibly generous supporting House candidates in the 2018 midterms, and he’s largely credited with securing a Democratic sweep a month ago in Virginia.

“In 2018, Mayor Bloomberg was a critical ally in helping House Democrats regain the majority,” Pelosi said in a statement. “Now, the stakes are even higher as we work to make health care more affordable by reducing the skyrocketing cost of prescription drugs, increase wages and root out corruption. We welcome and thank Mayor Bloomberg for his support.”

In 2018, Bloomberg offered major support to Stacey Abrams governor’s run in Georgia, as her largest single person contributor.

In the Georgia race, the Atlanta Journal Constitution wrote: “The biggest donations for the state Democratic Party since the runoffs have come from Washington, include $3.5 million from the Democratic Governors Association PAC, $875,000 from Emily’s List, which support female Democratic candidates, and $550,000 from the National Education Association, the nation’s largest teachers union. Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg also contributed $250,000.”

Fast forward to 2020, and Bloomberg’s political generosity is in full swing and not only for his own campaign.

In a separate action, I read that last week Bloomberg outspent Trump online 2.5 to 1, fighting Trump and the national Republican party. You won't read or hear that fact in most media. All you hear is that Bloomberg should use his millions (sorry, billions) on behalf of Dems ONLY by getting out of the race.

I believe in the pubic financing of elections. Until then, I believe in fighting fire with fire -- and the Dems have no big money gun to counter Trump, as we are busy fighting each other. It’s not as if money isn’t flowing in mega doses among Democrats. It is! But right now it’s divided among an ungodly number of candidates and they are all focused on Iowa and New Hampshire. The National Democratic party is low on funds.

Meanwhile, Trump is in the swing states broadcasting what degenerates we Democrats are — and there’s NO counter message. Enter Bloomberg, thank Goddess.

The Goddesses Thank Mike Bloomberg

We not only want women to have a seat at the table, we want women to have a seat at the head of the table. Their participation — their leadership — is essential to the vitality of our democracy. #RuleWithUs Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Dec. 10, 2019.

I'm happy to have Bloomberg's money, but since I'm the only one saying so, I'll be waiting for the calls for moderate Dems to reject it on principle as tainted billionaire money. That includes you, MSNBC, dear Elizabeth Warren and Bernie, too.

All I hear from uber-progressive talking heads, Sanders and Warren is borderline abusive disrespect for Bloomberg’s status as one of the world’s richest men and rejection of his astounding amount of philanthropy and support for progressive causes like climate change and gun control. With uber-progressives like Warren and Sanders being total purists, I expect them to walk their talk and demand that the moderate Dems just accept the Republican barrage of negative ads against them, and pray, I guess.

A Bit of Bloomberg Backup

Personally, I’m not endorsing Mike Bloomberg as a candidate, but my sense of fair play is that I won’t sit still and listen to talking heads roll over him, put the tractor in reverse, and then roll back over his limp body in hopes that he’s really, really dead. My Midwestern sense of fair play is aghast at the disrespect towards Mike Bloomberg. And yes, his stop and frisk policy was WRONG! This does not make him evil.

So hate me, but I will take Bloomberg's money to beat Trump -- and yes, he can stay in the campaign from my viewpoint. I have no candidate, but I'm tired of the utter stupidity and hypocrisy among Dems, when America is in a fight for her very life. I am putting America first to defeat Trump and deliver a Dem leadership in 2020, and I will sort out the rest later. ~ Anne
