Researchers Deny PETA Claim That Moms Eating Chicken Deliver Males With Smaller Penises

PETA is known for its controversial shock tactics in its war on meat consumption and animal cruelty. Accusing pregnant women of contributing to their son’s small penis size may be hitting below the belt, especially when the author of cited research Shanna Swan Ph.D, a professor of preventive medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai says “I think any link between eating buffalo wings — even by pregnant women — and the size of their son’s genitals is very tenuous.”

PETA’s Lindsay Rajt wrote to the National Buffalo Wings Festival founder Drew Cerza, alleging: “The latest scientific evidence shows that the sons of pregnant women who consume chicken are more likely to have smaller penises because of a chemical found in the birds’ flesh.”

Rajt continued: “Findings published by the Study for Future Families showed that eating poultry during pregnancy may lead to smaller penis size in male infants.”

In fact, the study did identify a link with prenatal phthalate exposure and penis size, but not related to eating chicken. For a review of the research findings, read on at the National Institute of Health.
