The Netflix Aussie actor of Chinese-Italian descent debuted as Snow Vase, playing opposite Michelle Yeoh in ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny’. Recently she played Helena in Netflix’s ‘The Society’

Unlike child ingenues who feel acting is their destiny, Natasha Liu Bordizzo says being a movie star was never the plan, writes ELLE Australia.

"I had no intention of being on camera. Not only did I have no intention, I had stage fright. I did drama in school and the minute it wasn't compulsory—I think it was in Year 9—I quit it right away."

The actor became a Fox Studios body double, while studying for her law degree.

"I was just plunged into a film set," she says. "Every day that I wasn't at university I was just there… there was a lot of waiting but I didn't mind because I had my own thing to do. I always had my books with me or my laptop. And then we'd be on again—so many people, so many different departments doing different things.

Fast-forward in the interview to the actor’s owrk as Helena in ‘The Society’, as Liu Bordizzo shares why the work has been such a positive experience.

"Out of the 10 directors, six or seven were women. And I had almost all of my intimacy scenes with female directors. There was a female producer, female writer—just having that energy on set, it's comforting. Netflix gave us an intimacy meeting before every single time we had anything intimate, even if it was very, very mild. And we would discuss exactly what we would be okay doing. And what we would be doing, shot by shot. You just feel so comfortable doing the scene after that. You feel very supported."
