Naomi Campbell | Vincent Peters | GQ UK March 2011 | 'The Naked Truth'

Updated Feb 18, 2010

Naomi Campbell steams up the lens of Vincent Peters in the March edition of GQ UK and we share more images and details of her ‘The Naked Truth’ interview.

The headline quotes around the Naomi Campbell are as revealing as her photos. Even though she swears that she only wants to lead a peaceful life, Campbell still sounds as if her next temper tantrum is a not-so-ladylike outburst in waiting.

“I feel like I’m an emotional person,” Campbell said. “If I feel that I am attacked, and pushed into a corner, then I will definitely put my guard up. And defend myself. I just want a peaceful life. But there are people who want to provoke me.”

When Naomi talks, you wonder what the heck happened to her in life. “I never thought I was an alcoholic, but it goes hand in hand with the drugs. Emotionally I was just gone. I was emotionally unattached to myself. You just want to numb your pain. And I’ve got tons of stuff. Same as everybody else. I didn’t like the way I was.”

Naomi was born in Streetham, London, the daughter of Valerie Campbell, a former ballet dancer. She has never met her father, who is unnamed on her birth certificate. Neither Naomi or her mother have ever revealed his identity.

As a young girl Naomi lived with her nanny, while her mother performed. At age 10, says Wiki, she was accepted into the Italia Conti Academy stage school where she studied ballet. Campbell was spotted in Covent Garden at age 15 by Beth Boldt, a former Ford model and head of the Synchro model agency.

The rest is history.

Naomi Campbell talks to British GQ writer Tony Parsons about accepting blood diamonds from former Liberian dictator Charles Taylor.

“I was afraid for my life and I was afraid for the life of my family. If you hear someone has killed thousands of people – of course I was afraid!” Campbell told interviewer Tony Parsons about how she felt felt when was called to testify at The Hague against Taylor. “One more person is not going to make a difference!”

Campbell shares that anti-Taylor activists have protested the fashion industry’s continued use of her in fashion editorials. Taylor’s trial has become a bit of a legal circus, with him and defense attorney’s walking out of the courtroom last week. Read yesterday’s update.

Naomi is another of the great Victoria’s Secret models and original, iconic Supermodel.  Prowling around the Vincent Peters website, we found some adds to the GQ UK 2011 February issue.
