Andrej Pejic Gender Bender | Collier Schorr | Dossier Journal Spring 2011

Updated with editorial & news|

Barnes & Noble and Borders bookstores have censored the Andrej Pejic cover, which surprises even me. Styleite asks if Andrej were more muscular, would this be an issue? Perhaps, if he still had curlers in his hair and is exploring his female side in the editorial.

AOC supports less censorship, not more — but that preference applies to women’s bodies as well. I think both bookstores understand the absurdity of their policy, compared to Europe and South America, but will apply it evenly. Even flat-chested young men dressing up like women don’t get to show their bosoms on the cover of fashion magazines without a wrap.

Original comments

We normally don’t do magazine covers alone, but given our focus on sexuality and what it means to be a woman or man in today’s world, we can’t ignore Andrej Pejic by Collier Schorr for Dossier Journal Spring 2011 issue.

For every woman who thinks she can’t possibly be seen in public with clips in her unfinished coiffure, think again. As for bare breasted, this is a conversation I will take up with Google Images.

This image of Andrej doesn’t have to be filtered for Google Images, but if Andrej owned voluptuous mammary glands like so many women,  AOC would be out of search business in a heart beat for not filtering the image or calling it NSFW. Having been through the agony — but fully rebounded — I know what I’m talking about.  Anne
