Edouard Martinet's Virtuoso Steampunk Insect Sculptures Soar With Creative Perfection

French artist, sculptor Edouard Martinet creates utterly-magnificent, steampunk insect creatures, making him the art world’s virtuoso insectophile, says his London gallery Sladmore Contemporary.

Martinet scours flea markets and auto parts sales in serch of old used parts that he rebirths into luxury-level creatures, fueled by his limitless creative imagination, fantastic wit and painstaking pursuit of perfectionism. Martinet searches for parts that fit together perfectly or near-perfectly, allowing him to use screws and a minimum — or preferably no solder.

In November 2013, The Financial Times How To Spend It Magazine featured Martinet’s creatures at prices in the £9,500-£15,000 range. How totally fabulous!!! J’Adore. ~ Anne
