Versace Fall 2023 Glamour for Los Angeles Times by Maya Fuhr with Gisselle and Saye

Had the Hindu rain goddess Mariamman or the Egyptian rain goddess Tefnut previewed Versace’s Fall 2023 RTW collection in advance, there would have been no need to move the Los Angeles show forward by a day to the evening of March 9 at Italy-inspired Hotel Per La.

Joined by fellow global rain goddesses and gods, California’s wretched March 2023 skies would have smiled on Donatella Versace and her fans on March 10. The highly-applauded show put Versace’s archetypal sex appeal and power on full display, taking everyone uptown with opera gloves that signaled utmost propriety in a scene drenched in Hollywood glamour.

The Los Angeles Times captures the shimmering, sophisticated style tableau with model Gisselle Hidalgo and Saye, styled by Keyla Marquez. Photographer Maya Fuhr [IG} imaged the Oscar-worthy sleek drama and shares on IG news of her show ‘Compersion’. Nuvo Magazine interviewed the Canadian artist about her lifelong obsession with latex and voyeurism in her first LA show, now closed, at Gallery Sade. We share the press release.

Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Channing Tatum, Anne Hathaway, and Lil Nas X all came out to support Donatella Versace. Elton John was on the scene, along with Cher and her boyfriend Alexander 'AE' Edwards.

The inspiration behind the new collection was the highly-influential 1995 and chic collection designed by Versace house founder and Donatella’s brother Gianni Versace.

Richard Avedon’s photographs of Kristen McMenamy captured an unusually chic and elegant Versace collection. Donatella told Vogue: “I wanted to go back to the cut and shape of the clothes, to concentrate on the perfect little black dress, the perfect black suit.”

Embellishments abounded in the collection, including a crystal-encrusted naked dress that called to mind a modern Marilyn Monroe. A black chainmail sheath demanded attention with its sculptural floral embellishments. Va-va-voom cone bras held court for cameras, as they morphed into hourglass shapes.

For editors, the Versace show “was an epic bang of a season finale.” wrote Vogue Runway.
