Louis Vuitton's 'Pacific Chill', the New 'Detox Scent' Taps Miranda Kerr for Launch

Louis Vuitton chose a wellness event in Malibu, California to launch its newest fragrance Pacific Chill.

"Thanks for coming to our wedding," joked artist Alex Israel as he walked along open-air benches with Vuitton’s maître parfumeur Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud.

Friend of the Louis Vuitton house, model, mother and businesswoman Miranda Kerr is the face of Pacific Chill. Her own company Kora Organics is a leading global certified organic skincare brand.

Miranda lives in Los Angeles with her husband Evan Spiegel, an American businessman, co-founder and CEO of Snap Inc. parent of Snapchat, and her three sons, Flynn, Hart and Myles.

Flynn is Miranda’s son from her three-year marriage to Orlando Bloom. Kerr, Bloom and Spiegel co-parent Flynn with Orlando’s wife singer Katy Perry. In the best of all expanded-family possibilities, Kerr and Perry describe each other as sisters.

The Fifth Fragrance in the Series

Pacific Chill represents the duo’s fifth California-inspired collaboration with notes of black currant, cédrat, basil, lemon, coriander, as well as carrot seeds and orange.

Credit the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge as the source of inspiration behind the new fragrance. About a year ago Cavallier-Belletrud was in LA for several days and enjoyed the hotel’s 14 Carrot Gold juice, made of carrot, orange and ginger every morning.

One of those days, Israel joined Vuitton’s maître parfumeur and their conversation turned to sources of inspiration for new fragrances. Cavallier-Belletrud responded: 'Well, inspiration of this place, for example, is this juice I've been drinking for a few days every morning that's bringing a lot of energy to me. That's very L.A. for me. And this black currant note around us.'"

In that moment Pacific Chill was born, prompting the LV fragrance master to label it the “detox” scent of the collection. Enveloped in a blue-green hued vessel, a 100-ml. bottle of Pacific Chill retails for $300.

Louis Vuitton Embraces California’s Progressive Values

"I love the West Coast," Cavallier-Belletrud said, calling Pacific Chill a fragrance developed to open both the senses and mind. "I love the freedom from this piece of land in the United States."

AOC tracks just about every utterance of Louis Vuitton and LVMH executives on social issues. In this case, the head parfumer cited social causes -- from "protecting nature" to "defending minorities" — as issues that resonate deeply with him.

We are the only blogging or media website that accurately called the appointment of Pharrell Williams as the new creative director of Louis Vuitton Men, after the tragic passing the Virgil Abloh. We called it very early — weeks after Abloh’s passing when it was not a sign of disrespect.

Artist Alex Israel, born and bred in L.A., offers a direct connection into the world that Vuitton seeks. For example, Israel in 2021 teamed up with Snapchat’s Spiegel at The Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach.

Louis Vuitton debuted the fourth fragrance in its Parfums de Cologne line, called ‘On the Beach’ in Spring 2021, with Alex Israel contributing the fragrance visualization.

The entire five-fragrance collection honoring California includes California Dream, Afternoon Swim, Pacific Chill, On the Beach and City of Stars.
