Artist, actor, socialite and friend of many powerful people, France-born Anh Duong joined Long Island East End artists Jack Ceglic, Cindy Sherman, Chuck Close, and ex, Julian Schnabel in “Selfies and Portraits of the East End” in summer 2019 at East Hampton’s Guild Hall. Erin Riley wrote about Duong in How Anh Duong & Other East End Artists are Redefining the Selfie in Hamptons Magazine.

Speaking of her life on the East End, Hamptons Riley wrote:

“When I first moved to the Hamptons, I didn’t really understand the beauty of it,” says Duong, who spent childhood summers in Spain, Italy, and the South of France with her Spanish mother and Vietnamese father. “But over the years, I’ve grown to love it completely. People always talk about the light, and it’s true.”

After her move to New York, Duong became a popular presence on the art and fashion scenes. In 2006 she married architect Barton Hubbard Quillen and moved into an old fisherman’s house in East Hampton. Although the couple went their separate ways, Duong kept the home and converted the barn into a painting studio.

Chiara Scelsi Poses in Michelle Alessandra's 'Hortus Deliciarum' Jewelry Collection

Chiara Scelsi Poses in Michelle Alessandra's 'Hortus Deliciarum' Jewelry Collection

Model Chiara Scelsi poses in ‘Tesoros Ocultos’ (Hidden Treasure), a Gucci editorial focused on Gucci’s first high jewelry collection ‘Hortus Deliciarum’. Alessandro Michele personally selected unique gems and motifs that express his poetic vision of fine jewelry in a collection that includes two-hundred jewels, mainly one-off pieces, and evolves around three main themes viewed through the prism of a mythical garden.

The ‘Hortus Deliciarum’ jewelry collection finds its place in Gucci’s new boutique in Place Vendôme. It features the three themes of Alessandro Michele’s vision: 1) paying homage to eternal love’s classic emblems. 2) honoring the majesty of the animal world; and 3) a focus on the solitaire ring, reinterpreted according to a flamboyant allure.

Eye: Dear Helena, Ashley, Chiara, Monica + | In Posing For Dolce & Gabbana Sp 2019 Campaign, Do You Give The Brand Cover?

Some of AOC’s favorite models and talents led by Helena Christensen, Ashley Graham, Monica Belluci, Eva Herzigova, Karen Elson, Chiara Scelsi and more are supported by photographers including Angelo Pennetta, Luca & Alessandro Morelli, Giuseppe Tornatore, Branislav Simoncik, Franco Pagetti, Bruce Gilden and Alex Majoli in celebrating Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2019 ad campaign.

Complicity Among Creatives

We don’t have the answers to any key questions around the participation of these creatives in the Dolce & Gabbana campaign — except to say that we wouldn’t participate in the campaign in any way. That’s a tough decision to make in a world that feels increasingly politically correct, a world where disagreement and debate is not tolerated by either demanding progressives or right-wing conservatives. So unlike many voices, AOC won’t criticize talents using their gifts on behalf of the Dolce & Gabbana brand.

Caught in our own concerns about the intolerance of politically-correct, progressive demands, we also acknowledge the reality of a world marching towards intolerance generally. This right-wing intolerance derides women’s rights or even our intelligence, gay rights, protecting the environment and a host of other values that the fashion industry theoretically embraces.
