A Whole Lotta LOVE

Update: model photo links at bottom of article

The prelaunch of magazines is becoming as big a deal as reality.

The third issue of UK’s LOVE Magazine is hitting newsstands on Feb 8. In all honestly, we’ve been waiting for the covers sans strips.

However, we now understand that LOVE is trying to make a point, beyond selling magazines, as they did putting Beth Ditto on the inaugural cover.

LOVE Magazine is celebrating the theme of fashion icons, and the models featured are: Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Amber Valletta, Lara Stone, Natalia Vodianova, Daria Werbowy, Jeneil Williams and Kristen McMenamy.

We just learned that LOVE is printing each models measurements, in an attempt to show that ‘perfection’ is not fixed, timeless or transcendent.  It’s great to see more athletic bodies included. A bit of muscle lust is good for women’s health.

All the models are thin and very shapely, which will set off a chorus of criticism. From our perspective, LOVE is walking their talk with a wide variety of body-image editorial. Track the campaign on the LOVE blog.
