22 Athletes In The Nude For ESPN The Magazine’s Body Issue 2011 - Part 1

Apolo Anton OhnoNote | Nudity ESPN’s 2011 Body Issue is out, celebrating star athletes all nude, except for sprinter Natasha Hastings, who wears her track shoes. Each athlete poses just so, discretely covering the most intimate parts of their bodies.  We’re looking at some of the most physically fit bodies on the planet, if not the fashion industry.

I admit that we count today’s media by gender. We count women versus men in the new Occupy Wall Street video (women are 25%, what’s up with that?). We count columnist on major media, where women are sadly underrepresented. But ESPN gets a high five for featuring 11 women out of 22 athletes.

The complete list includes:  Alicia Sacramone, gymnast; Apolo Anton Ohno, short track skater; Belen Mozo, golfer; Blake Griffin, basketball forward; Gretchen Bieller, snowboarder; Hello Castroneves, race car driver; Hope Solo, soccer goalkeeper; Jeremy Campbell, Paralympian in pentathlon; Jon Bones Jones, light heavyweight fighter; Jose Reyes, baseball shortstop; Julie Chu, hockey forward; Kelly Kulick, bowler; Louie Vito, snowboarder; Natasha Hastings, sprinter; Ryan Hall, marathoner; Ryan Kesler, hockey player; Sergio Martinez, middleweight fighter; Stephanie Gilmore, surfer; Steven Jackson, football running back; Suzy Hotrod, roller derby jammer; Sylvia Fowles, basketball player; Vera Zaonareva, tennis player.  See part 2.
