Emma Watson | Mario Testino | Vogue US July 2011 | 'Emma Watson's New Day'

Emma Watson reveals herself in a gem of an interview ‘Emma Watson’s New Day’, written by Amanda Forman for Vogue US’s July issue. The words supplement Emma’s photography shoot with Mario Testino, styled by Camilla Nickerson.

With her Harry Potter life nearly behind her, Emma is jazzed by reading ‘Just Kids’, Patti Smith’s 2010 memoir.

Smith’s willingness to embrace the highs and lows of a creative life touched something in Emma. “I want to live like Patti. I want to write like Patti,” she says. “The book was so honest and brave. I loved the way she sees the world. I really felt that life was more beautiful after I read it, and I felt more hopeful.”

Emma will have her first chance to live like Patti, playing the role of Samantha in Stephen Chbosky’s teen-angst novel ‘The Perks of Being a Wall Flower’. Watson flew to LA to assist in raising financing for the film.

Near the end of the novel, Sam speaks for every young woman with a burning heart, a radiant soul, and a devouring need to experience all that life has to offer: “I’m going to do what I want to do. I’m going to be who I really am. I’m going to figure out what that is.”
