Steven Meisel | Vogue Italia July 2005 | Linda Evangelista | 'Hollywood Life'

Tom Ford’s editorial of Crystal Renn having plastic surgery work for Vogue Paris, December 2010 is being compared with Steven Meisel’s lensing of Linda Evangelista having plastic surgery in Vogue Italia July 2005.

TFS says that the Meisel editorial called ‘Makeover Madness’, an 80-page feature was styled by Edward Enninful, and was shot over five days at the St. Regis and a medical rental facility.

Though Linda Evangelista scored the cover, models Elise Crombez, Euguenia Volodina, Missy Rayder, Julia Stegner, Inguna Butane, Hana Soukupova and Jessica Stam pose inside for “before” and “after” shots as well as slightly graphic portrayals of scalpels entering skin, complete with faux blood, courtesy of makeup artist Pat McGrath.

The models were then featured ‘post-op’ with their new faces.

The focus of the two editorials is different in our opinion. This Steven Meisel editorial is focused on the pursuit of youth in Hollwood. The Tom Ford French Vogue editorial is focused on an older woman and her younger lover, who appears to adore her, bandages and all.
