Adidas by Pharrell Williams Hu Holi Blank Collection Makes Powder Colors Street Smart

The latest Adidas by Pharrell Williams Hu Holi Blank collection is inspired by the spiritual Holi Festival, one of the most famous celebrations in North-Eastern India, when people gather to celebrate the victory of the good over the bad, as well as marking the beginning of spring.  Participants throw colored powders in the air to express their freedom and to bring color into their lives.

The latest pieces of this ongoing project leverage a breakthrough powder-dyeing technique to create truly one-of-a-kind pieces. Singapore fans waiting for the new powder-dyeing collection last Friday were so eager to buy the products that a fight broke out in Pacific Plaza, reports the The Straits Times.  Each customer was already allowed to purchase only one piece of apparel and one pair of footwear. Still the men weren't having it, as police were called to the scene to break up the fracas.

It wasn't the first time that fights broke out in Singapore over new Adidas arrivals. Chaos broke out in November 2016, a time when some Adidas fans waited in line for more than 36 hours in anticipation of the Bathing Ape collaboration -- only to see an 'official' queue being set up.

This third and final chapter of the Hu Holi story delivers apparel and footwear in the playfully iconic adicolor palette of blue, green, yellow, and red—a cultural icon for the streets. A riot of bold primary hues, the range channels the soulfulness of the adidas Originals by Pharrell Williams collaboration, reflecting Pharrell’s founding vision of color as an equalizing force among peoples. Graphic and bright yet simple in composition, Hu Holi adicolor pieces feature bold tone on-tone combinations. They exude an honest and playful vibe, able to be worn and styled for multiple occasions. The product and the colors are equal heroes in the design—striking in both texture and saturation. The collection features four track essentials: the top, tee, shorts, and pants. In footwear, the sleek Tennis Hu Pk pairs its adicolor powder-dyed uppers with a contrasting crisp white leather lining. With his vision of an adidas icon—filtered through the inspiring narrative of the Holi Festival—Pharrell issues yet another powerful, magical chapter of Hu. – from adidas Originals
