London's Self-Portrait Brand Launches Swimwear Collection Spring 2019

The fashion brand Self-Portrait (founded in 2013 by Malaysia-born, London-based, Central Saint Martins graduate designer Han Chong)  has high-profile fans that include Tracee Ellis-Ross, Beyoncé, Emmy Rossum, Mila Kunis, Storm Reid, Olivia Munn, Rachel Bilson, Rowan Blanchard, Greta Lee as well as Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and former Michelle Obama

Chong enjoys a thrving bridal business in his year-old Self-Portrait flagship London store at 49 Albermarle Street, in the heart of Mayfair. British Vogue profiled the store opening

The affordably-priced Self-Portrait label is sold in over 350 of the world’s top retailers, including Selfridges, Net-a-Porter, Matchesfashion.com, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Harrods, and Nordstrom.

Chong’s fans are thrilled with the arrival of his new swimwear line, arriving in unexpected shades such as terra cotta and mustard, complimented by blooming floral and graphic Art Deco prints. The collection also includes kaftans and other coordinating cover-ups. Ruching and asymmetric shoulders are common styling and design details in the swimwear collection.

Growing up in Malaysia and the tropical surroundings of Penang Island have fueled his swimsuit aesthetic, but Los Angeles is also inspiring his imagination.
