Another Look at Global Artist Yayoi Kusama's First Collab with Louis Vuitton in 2012

Louis Vuitton maintains its position as the world’s most valuable luxury brand according to most surveys and the cornerstone of the LVMH corporate holdings.

When you have the reach and impact of Louis Vuitton, there is really no need to do something twice. And yet, this is exactly the strategy that Louis Vuitton has taken for Spring 2023, with the January 1 launch of its second collaboration with renowned artist Yayoi Kusama [IG].

These images are from the first collaboration in 2012, when Marc Jacobs was the Louis Vuitton creative director. Photographer Angelo Pennetta [IG] captured models Anais Pouliot and Romee Strijd, who were styled by Katie Grand. / Hair by Tina Outen; makeup by Miranda Joyce; set design by Robbie Doig

Critically-acclaimed artist Yayoi Kusama has been breaking new ground for more than six decades and is now 93 years old. Known for her use of dots in multiple artistic media, do not think for one minute that Kusama’s art is created as a fashion statement.

Our earth is only one polka dot among a million stars in the cosmos. Polka dots are a way to infinity. –Yayoi Kusama
