Shame’ is getting glorious critical reviews but will have limited viewers, after receiving an NC-17 rating, a decision that Carey Mulligan finds hypocritical but director Steve McQueen says is OK, as long as the movie can be advertised. (No word on how that’s going.)

“You know, so many of the teen movies will have so much sex and so many people walking around in bikinis and bare-breasted and that all seems to be okay,” she (Carey Mulligan) tells HitFix.com in a new interview. “And then the minute you show it and its not funny, and it’s not sexy, and it’s actually unattractive, then it becomes a problem, which seems so odd.”

Cover girl Carey Mulligan appears in the January 2012 issue of W Magazine, as ‘Naughty But Nice’, lensed by Michael Thompson.
