Valentino Flagship Store Signals Surge of Brand-Owned Retail Shops

Valentino creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli have a new flagship store on Via Montenapoleone, the first boutique to reflect their personal design aesthetics and Valentino vision. David The 175 square meters boutique opened earlier in 2012 and represents the luxury brand’s renewed attention to its own retailing, with plans to open 40-50 stores in new markets like Brazil. Valentino will have two units in São Paulo and another in Rio de Janeiro.

The Financial Times reported recently that it’s estimated that the Italian luxury goods retail market has shrunk by around a billion euros in the past two years.
