It’s only recently that I came to appreciate the extraordinary beauty of wire sculptures. British artist Richard Stainthorp (Facebook) captures the energy and emotion of the human body, using a heavier wire than artist Robin Wright, whose thinner wires produce fairy sculptures.
Stainthorp has created his wire sculptures for almost 20 years, They are solidly grounded and emotional, wise and learned — not prone to silliness or a fanciful pursuit of dreams, because an understanding of the human condition seem to permeate their essence.
