One of Warhol’s favorite stories about Dom Pérignon was when he and his friends founded the “2,000″ club– a group of 20 people coming together to purchase 2,000 bottles of Dom Pérignon, with the intention of drinking them together to celebrate the millennium.
Warhol wasn’t there to celebrate the millennium by popping the corks in his millennium champagne stash.
As a tribute to Warhol’s status as a cultural icon, Dom Pérignon has teamed up with the Andy Warhol Foundation and the Design Laboratory at Central St. Martin’s School of Art and Design to reinterpret the timeless Dom Pérignon bottle. Warhol’s colorful silk screen designs will dress a collection of vintage 2002 Dom Pérignon champagne in a limited edition available October 15 at luxury purveyors. via Freshness
