NRA Puts Nancy Pelosi + Gaby Giffords Out For Target Practice. Will Sandy Hook Ruling Dampen Their Machismo?

The National Rifle Association left little to the imagination in their March 2019 issue of American Rifleman, citing Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and gun control advocate, former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Gifford — herself an assault rifle victim — as in the line of fire and perhaps in need of a little target practice.

Roger Stone Instagram against Judge Jackson in crosshairs.png

On Feb. 18th, US District Judge Amy Berman Jackson found herself in the crosshairs after rejecting Roger Stone’s effort to get his case reassigned to a new judge. A target symbol appeared next to Judge Jackson’s head.

Stone later shared a statement — which he reiterated when reached by BuzzFeed News — saying, "This was random photo taken from the internet .Any [sic] inference that this was meant to somehow threaten the Judge or disrespect court is categorically false."

There’s no doubt that these are macho men. The white nationalist assassin from Australia who Facebook livestreamed with his assault on two New Zealand mosques Friday is also a macho man. that currently leaves 50 dead and 50 hospitalized — many in critical condition.

On Thusday, March 14th, the Connecticut Supreme Court overturned a lower-court ruling, agreeng with Connecticut’s Sandy Hook families that the marketing employed by Remington Arms, a major manufacturer of deadly assault rifles and specifically the AF15, was so aggregious in appealing to men’s “killer instincts” that it transgressed against federal immunity laws that protect gun manufacturers from liability.

Connecticut law, the court wrote in the majority opinion, "does not permit advertisements that promote or encourage violent, criminal behavior." While federal law does offer protection for gun manufacturers, the majority wrote, "Congress did not intend to immunize firearms suppliers who engage in truly unethical and irresponsible marketing practices promoting criminal conduct, and given that statutes such as CUTPA are the only means available to address those types of wrongs, it falls to a jury to decide whether the promotional schemes alleged in the present case rise to the level of illegal trade practices and whether fault for the tragedy can be laid at their feet."

The NRA and Roger Stone will swear on a Bible that their words and pictures aren’t really meant to incite violence against Nancy Pelosi and Gaggy Giffords. We’re just clutching our pearls!! But if the US Supreme Court let’s the Connecticut Supreme Court decision stand, we might find fewer prominent women in the crosshairs of America’s macho men. Given Gabby Giffords permanent brain disability, and the mounting dead carcasses at the hands of testosterone-infused nationalists worldwide, we have every right to be concerned. One social conservative determined to kill me for supporting Planned Parenthood on TV is enough.

As Royal Patron, Meghan Markle Takes Interest In ACU Project To Decolonise the Curriculum Across 500 Universities

In January 2019, Meghan Markle made her first visit to the Association of Commonwealth Universities, an organization representing over 500 universities spanning more than 50 Commonwealth countries. Queen Elizabeth II handed over her royal patronage to the Duchess of Sussex, as part of her royal porfolio of four patronages.

The Duchess has been preparing for the important patronage and met with the ACU leaders privately in December. Markles described the event as meeting "university leaders, academics & #students to discuss how we can build a better world through #highered."

The Duchess of Sussex reportedly supports a campaign to “decolonise the curriculum” and confront the legacy of British empire and racism on university campuses.

The movement to add more people of color and female thinkers and writers to university professorial positions — rather than focusing heavily on “male, pale and stale” ones — has been hugely controversial in the aftermath of a campaign to topple a statue of the “Victorian imperialist “ Cecil Rhodes at Oxford in 2016, writes Lipstick Alley.

It followed a similar #RhodesMustFall movement in South Africa, which succeeded in having a statue of Rhodes removed from the University of Cape Town.  At the royal’s January meeting, the duchess “expressed her surprise at the shockingly low figures of diversity in UK professors. “

Research from Advance HE revealed 68% of UK professors were white males, 23% white female, 6.5% black and minority ethnic (BME) male and 2% BME female.

Meera Sabaratnam, head of the working party to decolonise the curriculum at SOAS, University of London and whose data inspired Meghan's 'Oh my God' response, agreed that 'change is long overdue'.

In October, the duchess received global praise for giving a powerful speech on feminism and women's suffrage in New Zealand on 125th anniversary of women achieving the right to vote in the country. Harper’s Bazaar writes: “t's clear that Meghan's passion for access to a fair education will influence the work she does in her royal patronages, and that's exciting.” To be frank, it sounds like Meghan is jumping out of an already hot frying pan into the fire. If no one reins her in, goddess bless the woman. ~ Anne

Anne Breaks With Her Bikers Stereotype After Watching These Bikers Help Bullied Kids

feature bikers support bullied cape breton boy 2 (1).png

My first encounter w/bikers was not a good one. I was 16 and a new driver. About 7 of them pursued me on a highway, following me down the exit to a red light. Revving their engines, all that testosterone went into high gear when the light turned green. Panicked, I moved, too, into the bumper of the car in front of me. Afraid my father would kill me, I begged the driver to let me pay for the new bumper (he probably had insurance, but I was not being very rational.) So I paid him all my drug store earnings college money for months -- several hundred $$$ -- and my parents never knew about the incident. I never had a fondness for bikers after that initial introduction.

So today, I will rewrite my bikers stereotype w/this wonderful story about bikers in Canada, I believe, part of an international network of bikers helping bullied kids. I've checked them out on Google and find no reason not to send them a big humanitarian hug for all their efforts. It's so sad that our kids go through this pain to go to school today, but these guys are making it better. Note that there were 3 teen suicides in this community in 2017, the 3rd one a week before this bikers escort was formed for 10-year-old Xander Rose.
