Photographer Amanda Charchian brings a sizzling girl gang atmosphere to Agent Provocateur's Autumn Winter 2017 lookbook. AP lovers Daisy Lowe, Tali Lennox and Solveig Mørk Hansen showcase the AP Forever stockings, garter belts, silk lingerie and all-around straappy dominance the luxury lingerie brand is known for.
i-D shares a robust, philosophical 2014 interview with Amanda Charchian.
The lookbook images appear in the Hollywood furor over producer Harvey Weinstein's ways with women and legendary designer's Donna Karan's comments that perhaps the women victims could have been 'asking for it' by the way they dress. As all Donna's fans for decades -- including this one --pushed our dropped jaws back into place to carry on, this new controversy underscores my ambivalent critique of Agent Provocateur's recent ad campaign 'Tease & Hustle'.
I stand by that critique and much prefer this more classic vision of AP's scorching sexuality, one posited in an empowered women's environment, in contrast to hungry men banging on the glass and waving dollar bills in the air in 'Tease & Hustle'. For all our alleged emancipation, women have a long way to go in achieving real liberation. Donna Karan herself -- the queen of sensual body dressing -- gave us a reality check Sunday night with her confusing comments. ~ Anne
