Michelle Obama's Six Lessons for Women with Big Goals

America’s First Lady Michelle Obama is on the December 2009 cover of Glamour Magazine, as the only First Lady ever featured on a Glamour cover.  Michelle is also honored as “mentor in chief” to young women and interviewed by CBS anchor Katie Couric, who debuts a new moonthly feature in Glamour.

After their hit with Izzie Miller and body imagery, and with a long tradition of writing about international women’s issues, Glamour moves forward beyond fashionista speak into bonafide Smart Sensuality topics that interest intelligent, competent and caring women.

Interviewing the First Lady about mentoring, Katie organizes a group of six lessons for women who want to reach their own personal goals:

- Mentoring matter, especially for young women

- The real role models aren’t movie stars - they’re the people you know

- Don’t wait to be “discovered” by a mentor

- Don’t put yourself last in line

- When it comes to looks and style, set your own standards

- With men, don’t be swayed by ‘cute’
