Saskia de Brauw & Kat Hessen | Boris Ovini | Exhibition Magazine #1

Note| Nudity| Editor-in-chief Boris Ovini shoots Saskia de Brauw and Kat Hessen for the inaugural edition of Exhibition Magazine focused on lipstick as a theme. It is conceptually esoteric and very challenging to position an entire issue around a narrow idea like lipstick, but if anyone can execute, it will be the Parisians.

With the initial set of Sølve Sundsbø images ‘Lips Or the Edge of Reason, we said ‘fine’ even though the editorial was about erotic tongues. Here, we’re clueless, except that the models are wearing lipstick and their mouths are highlighted, even if veiled.

We have an art, style, and culture editorial, with smudged makeup by Houda Remita and hair courtesy of Karin Bigler. It’s ice cold, as lipstick wearing fashionistas can be. We’re underwhelmed, which is putting it mildly.

When one hypes a new idea big-time as Exhibition did, one must deliver. Sometimes head down, low to the ground is a better place from which to rise in public adulation. So far we’re yawning Anne
