Photographer Mara Zampariolo and stylist Ornella Jong create an Alexandre Vauthier haute couture story inspired by Britain’s iconic queens throughout history. British model Elizabeth Todd is perhaps celebrating her namesake the great Queen Elizabeth 1 in ‘God Save the Queen’.

The drama of the royal court was religious then, too. Mary Queen of Scott (a Catholic) and Elizabeth 1 (Chrch of England) dueled for control of England.

These images remind me of Elizabeth 1 on her way to the Tower of London, the site of her own mother Anne Boleyn’s execution. When Elizbeth saw that she was being led to the Tower through Traiter’s Gate, she protested “Oh Lord, I never throught to come in here as a prisoner … I come in as no traitor but as true a woman to the Queen’s Majesty as any as is now living; and thereon will I take my death.” Elizabeth sat down of the stairs and refused to move.

One of Elizabeth’s servants began sobbing, which infuriated Elizabeth. Remember that she was a young woman exhibiting her legendary iron will and confidence about ruling as England’s queen. Exasperated with her servant, Elizabeth said “I thank God that I know my truth to be such that no man can have cause to weep for me! Without a doubt, Queen Elizabeth 1 was a Smart Sensuality woman and is considered to be the greatest monarch in English history.
