Kate Moss Reigns Supreme In Steven Klein's Alexander McQueen Spring 2014 Campaign

Kate Moss fronts Alexander McQueen’s spring campaign for the first time in Steven Klein images and film, inspired by the “voyeuristic elements of the 1960s British thriller Peeping Tom.” Adjectives describing the campaign include ‘haunting’,’creepy’, and ‘sinister’. Steven Klein was a good friend of McQueen, as was Moss who appeared as a ghostly hologram at the finale of the designer’s fall/winter 2006 show.

From my perspective, Steven Klein so successfully probes McQueen’s ambivalent relationship with women — who have become increasingly empowered under present designer Sarah Burton. In these images Kate Moss expresses the dark side of the Amazonian, Lilith woman in the minds of many men. In a bright light, Kate would become a Gianni Versace goddess and feminine power personified. Carry on, Sarah Burton. ~ Anne
